DIY Owl-Themed Baby Shower

Create or borrow owl imagery for the party. Once you set a color scheme and select imagery for the party, you can get to work on the finer details. Borrow images from the source that inspired the selection, be it a sorority affiliation, beloved storybook character or the decor of the nursery.

Create the owl baby shower invitations. Add owl clip art, scan beloved images, or have an artistic friend design original artwork. I want to recommend owl baby shower invitations at Invitesbaby.com. You may be able to find owl stationery, which would make this task even easier. Ideally, use owl imagery that also relates to babies. Show a baby owl in a nest or a couple of anxious parent owls watching over an egg.

Decorate the venue with the same owl imagery you put on the invitations. One of the keys to creating a memorable party is employing imagery and colors effectively to establish continuity. By repeating colors and images, you tie all of the shower components together.
Create other decorative owl elements. Draw a few simple owl features -- feathers, eyes, pointed eye ridges -- on inflated balloons, which have the same shape as an owl. Collect owl figurines everywhere you can find them to place on tabletops. Use ceramic owls as flower vases. Place owl imagery on the game, food or craft elements for the party. Plates, napkins, cups, scorecards, scrapbook pages and onesies are all fitting canvases for owl art.
Include imagery inspired by owls, not necessarily of owls. The owl is associated with wisdom, storytelling, school, reading, the moon, Winnie the Pooh, the goddess Athena and even Tootsie Pop suckers.

Select imagery that also suits the guest of honor. For example, to celebrate an expectant librarian, focus on the owl and book connection. Recognize the expectant goddess at your shower by treating her like Athena for the day, giving her a crown of olive branches or ivy to wear. Reinterpret a bridal shower favorite by using toilet paper to create Greek goddess-style maternity gowns on guests
Serve owl-themed food. You can apply owl imagery to cupcakes and cookies with ease, but it gets tricky after that. The owl is not the easiest theme to incorporate into a menu, so get creative. Employ nesting or birds-on-a-branch imagery if you can. Pigs in a blanket become owls in a nest if you reshape the dough and sit the sausage upright. Choose foods that allow you to make a play on words like "owl hoot wings," a renamed version of chicken hot wings
